Things That Only Live in Nightmares

OK, even though I've only been able to read Monstrumologist at night, I really suggest you don't. Don't get me wrong, its a really good read so far, but, it's only gotten more bloody. Yep, its not one for weak stomached people.

Right now I'm on page 218, so I'm not at the pace I was before but AP's were last week. Fun stuff.
But brief sum up of what's happened so far is that Will Henry and Doctor Warthrop have delved deeper into the African monster case, and found out that the Doctor's father was actually the one who brought the monsters back to the US from Africa. Right now they are really low on sleep and they're trying to solve the mystery of why the older Doctor Warthrop would ever want to bring horrible man-eating beasts to the New World.

I have to say that the Doctor is a real snub. He gives very little love to Will Henry, and yet I also pity him. He wan't loved by his father. He probably just doesn't know how to act.

Monsters!

OK, so I chose none of the books that I mentioned in the last post. Mostly because Harry Potter was too long, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was stolen by some kid, and I wasn't in the mood for dinosaurs when I walked into the library this morning. But what caught my eye was the sparkly new volume on the new books shelf. It's called Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey.

So. It's really good. As I said, I picked it out this morning. I'm currently on page 104. Take that as you will.

Brief sum up up: The main character, Will Henry, was orphaned at age 11. His father's employer, took him in as an assistant. But Dr. Pellinore Warthrop is no normal employer, he specializes in monstrumology, or the study of monsters. At the beginning of the book, Will Henry and the doctor have caller in the middle of the night, a caller who has a muddy bag with him. Needless to say, their deadliest case yet involves headless, flesh eating forms of an exotic African monster. It can get pretty gory, but the language is great and I love the word choices and just the plot in general.
